Thank you for your interest in taking training classes with Chino Valley Canine Training Club! See descriptions of the classes most often offered by our Club. All of the below are taught by club members who compete with their own dogs in Obedience, Rally, FASTCat or Scent Work OR are licensed to certify you and your dog in CGC or Therapy Dog.
Teach your dog basic skills and good manners. You will learn how to set your dog up for success with training games. You and your canine friend will develop a working partnership and have fun along the way! We’ll cover these skills:
Focus is on building a good trusting relationship between owners and their dogs, and encouraging impulse control in the dogs It helps build confidence for both of you too.
Beg. Obedience classes are one hour in length. Puppies must be 5 months or older to attend. Classes are taught at Memory Park between March and October and go for six weeks. We start with the basics to give handler and dog a strong foundation. Over the six weeks we build on these skills. Each week you go home with skills to practice and when you return the following week you add to the skills you have already learned. The goal is to have fun and have a well mannered and sociable pet. Dogs enrolled in class must have a current rabies vaccine, per the Town of Chino Valley. Policy: Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
A new title recently offered by the American Kennel Club to encourage activity with your dog. Earning FETCH titles with your dog offers great opportunity for exercise and many dogs love to play this "game." Visit AKC's website to learn more about the sport and what is involved in each titling level. Dogs enrolled in class must have a current rabies vaccine, per the Town of Chino Valley.
Rally is a type of obedience and is often an extension of the beginner course. It helps increase the bond between you and your dog. These one hour sessions are taught by experienced handlers and club members and held at Memory Park between March and October. Dogs enrolled in class must have a current rabies vaccine, per the Town of Chino Valley.
Scent Work is another activity you can do with your dog. Your dog's nose is 100,000 times more sensitive than a human nose. Do you want to see just how good they are? Then this could be the class for you. These one hour courses are taught by experienced handlers who are also club members and held in Chino Valley between March and October. Dogs enrolled in class must have a current rabies vaccine, per the Town of Chino Valley.
Does your dog need a job? Therapy might be just the thing. To make sure this is a match for both you and your dog, this six week class will cover everything from the odors you may encounter to visiting a facility. Classes are taught Spring through Fall and space is limited. Dogs enrolled in class must have a current rabies vaccine, per the Town of Chino Valley.
